Today, we toast mixed breeds, so raise your water bowls high. On December 2, we celebrate Mutt Day. We love mutts so much, we celebrate this day twice a year.

History:

In 1866 ASPCA was established, a non-profit organization for the prevention of cruelty to animals. In 1968 Hanna-Barbera Productions created fictional dog Muttley as a sidekick to cartoon villain Dick Dastardly. In 2005, Colleen Paige started National Mutt Day to help solve the problem of abandoning mixed breed dogs. July 31, 2005, National Mutt Day is also celebrated on July 31 annually.

How To Celebrate/ To-do List Ideas:

  • Visit a shelter.
  • Offer to dog-sit for a friend.
  • Adopt a mutt.
  • If you are unable to adopt a dog, you can always volunteer.
  • Post on social media using #NationalMuttDay.
