National French Bulldog Day
January 13 has been set aside to honor the special qualities of French bulldogs--a popular breed of small dogs known for their alert, adaptable and playful personalities.
History:
French Bulldogs began in England and were bred to be a toy size. Many lace workers from Nottingham emigrated to France for better opportunities. They brought their little dogs with them, and the French Bulldog thrived in France and Europe. The United States saw its first Frenchie at the Westminster Kennel Club show in 1896. The breed was quickly nicknamed "Frenchie," and it is still affectionately called that today.
