It’s an opportunity to recognize the good that shelters do for pets without home, to share information about how to find a new home for shelter animals, and especially to encourage people to adopt pets.

History:

Hill’s Pet Nutrition launched the first ever Change a Pet’s Life Day in 2009. The event was designed to raise awareness about the state of animal shelters and the benefits of adopting an animal over purchasing a pet. For this day, hundreds of shelters and humane societies offered reduced adoption fees. Hill’s also paid the adoption fees for the first 10 pets adopted from each shelter and donated food to adopters.

How To Celebrate/ To-do List Ideas:

  • Donate to a shelter.
  • Volunteer your time.
  • Raise awareness for shelters.
  • Get involved in a cause.
  • Introduce positive changes for your pet.
  • Fostering an animal is another great way to help out shelters.
  • Make a difference in a pet's life is by adopting one.
  • If you aren't able to have an animal come to your home, sponsor an animal instead.
  • Create a post explaining how people can positively make a change in the life of a pet.

Gift Ideas:

Puppy Kitten Blanket

Donate pet blankets to your nearby shelter today. These blankets are thicker and more durable, so they can provide warmth for the lovely furry friends, as well as protect  furniture from scratching and pet hair and drool.

Coloring Book

Coloring books are made not only for kids but also adult coloring books are available in the market. Let us appreciate and recognize our shelter workers and gift a coloring book to them. They might enjoy this book.
